Thirteen-year-old Iona Winnifrith showcased her talent at the European Championships, mirroring her success in London. In her debut international competition, she excelled in the medley and breaststroke events, securing two European titles.

Initially trailing in the Women’s SM7 200m Individual Medley, Winnifrith swiftly narrowed the gap created by Veronika Korzhova’s lead. She surged ahead in the final stretch, clinching gold with a new British record time of 3:09.76.

Winnifrith continued her stellar performance in the Women’s SB7 100m Breaststroke, setting a lifetime best and lowering her own British record to 1:29.91, just missing the 10-year-old European record. She also claimed bronze in the S7 50m Butterfly event, showcasing her versatility in different swimming disciplines.
